OK, So I have just watched the "MQ Gamifying Education" video, which gives some important insight on the program and techniques we are using in this class. This is all very new to me, since I am kind of old school in my learning. The down side to this is that I can see how some of the computer challenges are tough for someone like me with limited computer knowledge, not being raised in a technological environment. Don’t misconstrue this as a negative over all, I believe a lot of good is involved in this type of learning, and I myself have learned much already. I was impressed with the lay out of the “Learning Techniques” that this program uses for teaching. The whole premise of teaching up instead of down was awesome, and made me question why nobody has ever considered this before. It was obvious to me, how people with learning issues, and who have trouble staying focused could benefit from this greatly. There were also several other points to this learning I found intriguing, such as the unity of the class and getting everyone involved with what is going on. There is no singling out or feelings of not being involved, huge for a student’s self-worth. Granted some people don’t want to be out front and included in everything, but it leaves that opportunity wide open. The last thing I will comment on is the “Agency” they talked about, and giving the student the feeling of control over their own destiny. That is a huge factor in today’s society, when everything seems to be spinning out of control. I believe more children would be prone to staying in school if they felt as though they are in control of their lives. In closing: very informative video, and I’m struggling with the technology and damn proud to be part of this new and wonderful learning experience.P.S. Hope this thing is two hundred words, would hate to have it kicked back.......Later Kids!

  1. I agree with the idea that the steps to learning how to be able to use the program is quite challenging, however, it is a good feeling that the students have control of their own destiny for their outcome in the class

  2. I can totally relate to what your saying, because I have limited computer experience also.At first, I thought all this computer interaction would be the end of me and this class, but I've realized that this exactly what I need in order to accomplish my goals for the future.I find it interesting and a challenge.

  3. coming from a more technological background I can see where this could be troublesome for someone with limited computer knowledge. I think that we are at a time that going forward we are going to have to change the way we see technology, and you kinda hit the nail on the head with nobody trying this sooner. Looking at the younger generation and how much they use technology, this is going to be the only way to reach them, so I guess we are the pioneers for their education.
